Woman's case referred to Sharjah Public Prosecution

Sharjah: The case of an Indian woman who went missing last month has been referred to Sharjah Public Prosecution by police, a senior official confirmed on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old housewife, P.R.A., was reported missing on May 25 after her husband filed a missing person complaint at Al Buhaira police station.

Police confirmed that she was found two days later and escorted back home.

A senior official at Sharjah Police said that P.R.A. chose to run away from home after a domestic dispute that broke out between her and her husband, A.M.A.

"This is a sensitive issue as it is related to a domestic dispute of the family, and we would rather deal with such cases in a confidential manner," said the official.


"Even though the husband has withdrawn the missing person complaint, the police have forwarded the case to the Public Prosecution since it involves a dispute," he added.

Police declined to comment on where the woman had taken refuge during the 48 hours she was missing.

The woman was initially found to have gone missing after the couple's neighbours noticed that the front door of their house was opened but the bedroom door was locked.

After informing the husband, the three of them then broke down the door and discovered that his wife was not in the room. None of her belongings was missing.
